Narcisa Laoyan

Originally from Baguio City, I spent a decade in Hong Kong before relocating to Canada. I lived a carefree life for three years in Hong Kong until I received an advice to learn about investment from someone. Through the Enrich mentoring program, I discovered my interest in investing, particularly in mutual funds. Having a knowledgeable mentor has been instrumental in my learning journey. Now in Canada, I'm grateful to Enrich for connecting me with a mentor who guides me on health care insurance, life insurance, critical illness insurance, and retirement investments. Thank you, Enrich, for also assisting my fellow countrymen in achieving their goals.

The programme has been a game-changer for me, and I'm now a proud owner of a property that is rented out, generating extra income for me! I'm particularly thrilled that I achieved my initial goal of three years much faster than expected.

Through my mentor, I gained theoretical financial concepts, including the idea of a nest egg, which emphasises the importance of having an emergency fund of cash or liquid assets in case of an emergency. This has helped me feel more secure and prepared for unexpected situations. I also learned about the snowball effect and the importance of reinvesting earnings. By doing so, I can now generate a higher return in the future and achieve my financial goals quicker.

The most valuable takeaways from the programme were determination – the importance of having a clear goal and working hard to achieve it; perseverance – the rewards of hard work; diversification – by having a diverse pool of investments and savings, risks can be reduced and a better tomorrow ensured; understanding risks – avoiding debt at all costs! 

Having spent time in the programme, I am now more confident in managing my personal finances. I am grateful for the knowledge and skills gained through the programme and highly recommend it to anyone looking to achieve their financial goals.
